1. 研究目的与意义（文献综述）

feminism has long been discussed by scholars, as a heated and controversial topic. it has also been symbolized as a protest against the inequality of the contemporary society, as a powerful representative of outright human rights. in this sense, feminism is a common argument in many kinds of arts such as literary books, dramas and is especially preferred by screenwriters. the artistic works which reflect the social problems can arise more attention of the public on account of the popularity through circulating so that they will probably lead to resolution to some extent. the film thelma and louise is the typical work, which tells about a story of two ladies’ escapement experience in which they suffer a lot from men but enjoy their mirth and happiness during the life on the run. it forms a sharp contrast between the tribulation in their fugitive life and their optimistic attitude towards the sufferings, remaining us the deep thought about not only the state of social equality but also the definition and meaning of feminism. as a consequence, i choose the topic as my research target for the following reasons.

firstly, i intend to emphasize the urgency and essentiality of feminism struggle against gender discrimination by deeply analyzing the inequality of men and women that is ubiquitous in the film, which is my original intention to research on the topic. specifically, how the two women are prosecuted and forced to the road of escapement, as the fundamental origin of their final tragedy, is absolutely focused on in my paper.

secondly, i intend to extol female free will, confidence, friendship and so on by analyzing the brilliant female image in the movie. in the male-dominated world, women still have these glory spirits to live on, to endure plights and further to fight with the unfair society. in the long term, there is no doubt that the everlasting spirits will contribute to realistic advances in the feminist movement.

thirdly, i intend to drive people to pay attention to the prospects of feminism movement according to the film and relate it to the reality. in the movie, thelma and louise choose to go suicide together confronted with policemen. the tragic and solemn ending brings us into contemplation about the prospects for the feminist struggle. and from the beginning to the end of the movie, there is a policeman hesitating for chasing for the two women who are considered to be the hope of male representative in the movement. that’s what i am glad to see and why i’m so obsessed with the film on which i choose to research.

2. 研究的基本内容与方案

This paper will focus on the feminism and film analysis consisting of several parts. The first part will touch upon the state of feminism movement of the setting in the movie, the unfair treat to the two heroines by evil men, the special feminist spirit unfolded during the escapement time and the prospect of the feminist movement in a hope to give a further thinking of the realistic meaning of this paper.

The object is the impressive movie concerning closely about the feminism. In addition to this, I will focus on the realistic problems in a relation to my topic. That’s to say, the social discrimination, social awareness and systems will all be referred to in my paper.

I plan to prepare much for the completion of my dissertation. The first step is to watch the movie for another time and record the slight details to be rethought. Then I will find out other related movies to make a contract with it. Next I am going to read comprehensive analysis of the film and find out the unnoticed aspects of the argument. A necessary process is to read books about feminism by scholars and famous writers. After all the preparations above, I will begin my dissertation.
