with china's economic globalization and international communication increasing quickly, english learners' language application ability and communication skills are attracting language scholars and teachers.
it has been a heatedly discussedtopic that language transfer has great influence on learning foreign language. influences on learners'foreign language learning has been a hot topic.
language transfer is one of the common phenomena in the process of foreign language learning. the impact of mother tongue on learning is called language transfer. language transfer can be divided into two types: one is positive transfer, the other is negative transfer. positive transfer will promote language learners' foreign language learning, and negative transfer can hinder learners' foreign language study.

in recent years, great achievements have been made by scholars both at home and abroad in the study of the impact of language transfer on second language acquisition. the study of language transfer which began in 1950s, has been the central issue on applied linguistics, second language acquisition and language teaching.according to the connection on the second language acquisition, before learning second language, the native language already exists in learners'' mind; if you use mother tongue more often,the language level will be strengthened higher. in late 70s and early 80s, krashen proposed the 'monitor theory', its core is the five basic hypotheses: language acquisition hypothesis, monitor hypothesis, the natural order hypothesis, the input hypothesis and the emotional transition hypothesis. lado (1957) pointed out that in the second language acquisition, it is easy to learn the similarities, but the difference is difficult to learn. use the chinese learning english as an example, when learners be aware of the similarities between english and chinese,the distance between the mother tongue and target language will be closer in their subconscious , thus they will be more willing to learn target language. according to ringbom, when someone can accurately see the similarities of the two languages, the migration is positive. china''s researchers and instructors of second language acquisition(dai weidong, wang dong, 2002; lu yizhi, 2002; wang yuehong, 2000) also noticed the positive impact to chinese students.
concept transfer (jarvisamp;pavlenko, 2008) focuses on the phenomenon of deep level of concept transfer , reflect the impact of one language to another language in the conceptualization,the basic theory of concept transfer is linguistic relativity.
in addition,comparative analysis hypothesis(lado, 1957) and inter language hypothesis (selinker, 1983) both stress the the function of transfer from the mother tongue language to the target language.
4. 计划与进度安排
this article is going to research how to overcome the negative transfer of mother tongue and what can we do to find a better way to learn english.
the research contents contain five parts. the first part is about the definition of language transfer,this part will analysis the predecessors'' viewpoint and their definition. show what can we learn from them what should be improved. in addition,classify the language transfer into positive and negative to help us know better about the impact on english learning. also,we should understand the essence of language,only in this way can we analysis it better.
in the second part,i pick up the negative transfer of mother tongue on english learning,because the negative transfer can help us to improve. the negative transfer can affect the vocabulary ,pronunciation,grammar and discourse learning.
