antibioticsare antimicrobials that are among the most frequently prescribed medications inmodern medicine, they are used to kill or slows the growth of bacteria (bayarski,2019).the first antibiotic was discoveredby alexander fleming in a major breakthrough for medical science (bayarski, 2019). a second major antibiotic,streptomycin, was later isolated from the soil actinomycete streptomyces griseus, by the soilmicrobiologist selman waksman in 1943 (ianpepper, 2018).the centers for disease control and prevention (cdc)estimates of antibiotic resistant infections are at least of 2 million peoplein united states annually resulting in 23,000 deaths (cdc, 2013).
recently,there has been growing bacterial resistance to antibiotics, and this is a majorpublic health dilemma with serious health and financial consequences. there ismore antibiotic resistant genes (args) present in the sewage sludge onwastewater treatment plants (wwtps).sources of antibiotics in raw sewageinclude: individuals excretia; the flushing of medications via commodes fordisposal, and disposal of hospital effluents (kummerer henninger, 2003). resistant enterococci have been identified inhospital effluents at concentrations of 103 cfu per ml (harris, cormican, cummins, 2012).theargs are now considered to be a class of emerging contaminants (pruden, pei, storeboom, 2006).

Atpresent, there is no study on ARGs reduction by Fenton conditioning sludge. Thepossible causes of reduction in the reduction of ARGs and MGEs, apoptosis andmicrobial community changes were assessed by assessing the decrease of Fentonconditioning sludge. The above research can be enough to replenish the gapbetween sludge conditioning and the research direction of ARGs reduction.
