research purpose:

virginia woolf is the most representative female writer of stream of consciousness in the 20th century. to the lighthouseis a representative work of woolf 's mature feminist thought. it is also an autobiographical work. through the creation of these characters, the author deeply reveals and analyzes the men and women 's status in the traditional patriarchal society. in view of this abnormal social situation, the author boldly puts forward her own solutions, and at the same time puts forward unique insights and practice models for women 's writing and discourse.what is reflected in this work by the author's feminist thought is harmony. the traditional woman, mrs. ramsay, defended the supremacy of men everywhere for the sake of harmony. lily, the representative of the new woman, also pursues harmony while trying to get rid of the influence of the traditional female lifestyle. the ending was happy: lili's painting was finished, and james's trip to the lighthouse was completed. every man's pursuit has its final destination. the trip to the lighthouse is a spiritual journey. everyone's thoughts are sublimated. the light of the lighthouse is the light of harmony.woolf 's idea of androgyny discussed in this paper is a true reflection of her feminist thought and also an innovation of the traditional female writing style. she strived to get rid of the shackles of male writing thinking and paved the way for women to express their inner thoughts through writing with an original writing technique. the idea of androgyny is also the key for lily to realize herself.most of the modern writers of novels refer to her works, and her works have influenced the writers of novels from generation to generation. the purpose of this paper is to provide readers with a platform to understand the thoughts of feminist writers, the feminist movement and its impact on today's society by analyzing feminism in to the lighthouse.
