nowadays,withtheforeigntradedevelopingfast,theinternationalbusinessnegotiationhasplayedanessentialroleininternationalcommunicationandcooperation.itisaspecialwaytointeractincrossculturebusiness.whilecarryingoutthebusinessnegotiation,peoplepaymoreattentiontotheverbalcommunicationratherthantothesignificanceofnonverbalcommunication.thenonverbalcommunication,aswellastheverbalcommunication,isapartofsocialcultureandinfluencedbydifferentculturesdeeply.inthecrossculturalcontext,thepropernonverbalcommunicationcanfacilitatetheexchangeofinformation,inturn,impropernonverbalcommunicationwhichmaybenotsuitableforthelocalcustomsleadtomisunderstandingandevenconflict.comparedwiththeverbalcommunicationinonelanguage,nonverbalcommunicationcandeliverinformationconcisely,expresstheemotiongenuinely,andhasdecisivefunctioninthecontext.
nonverbalcommunicationhasalongerhistorythanverbalcommunication.however,foralongtimepeoplehavepaidmuchattentiontoverbalcommunication,whiletheyhaveunderestimatedtheindispensableroleofnonverbalfactorsincommunication.sincethe1950s,theresearchonnonverbalcommunicationhasalsobecomemoreprominent.nonverbalcommunicationrefersto,notonlyfacialexpression,gesturesandotherbodylanguagesofpeople,butalsomanykindsofsignals,suchasspaceutilization,soundsuggestion,dressingandotherdecorations.besides,itisanimportantsupplementtoverbalcommunicationandabletoexpressconnotations,thoughtsandfeelingsthatverbalcommunicationcannotexpress.

2. 研究的基本内容与方案
Nonverbalcommunicationservesmultiplefunctionsininternationalinteraction.Thethesisconductssomecomprehensivestudyonnonverbalcommunication,includingitsdefinition,classification,function,andthehistoricalstudiesdoneonthisfield.SomeempiricalexamplesaregiventoillustratethedifferencesofnonverbalcommunicationbetweenChinaandtheUnitedStates.Whileverbalmessagesconveycontentmeaning,nonverbalbehaviorscarrystrongidentityandrelationalmeaning.Nonverbalcommunicationcanhelptorepeat,complement,substitute,regulate,andevencontradictthemeaningoftheverbalmessages.BusinessnegotiationisthekeytothesuccessofbusinessrelationshipbetweenChinaandtheUnitedStates.Withtheincreasinginteractionsbetweenthesetwocountries,itisnecessarytoexaminetheprocessofbusinessnegotiationclearlytofindouthowtheprocessisinfluencedbyculturalfactorsconcerningnonverbalaspects,inordertofigureoutthewaytogainwinwinsuccessforbothparties.
ThetaskofthisthesisissupposedtoillustratedifferencesofnonverbalcommunicationinbusinessnegotiationbetweenChinaandtheUnitedStates.Basedoncaseanalysiswithcommunicationstrategies,thisthesisdescribesthetheoreticalframeworkandintroducestheclassificationsofnonverbalcommunicationanditsapplicationtoguidethebusinessnegotiation.AndthehekeyproblemthisthesisillustratesiswhyandhowdifferencesofnonverbalcommunicationissignificantinbusinessnegotiationbetweenChinaandtheUnitedStates.Therefore,todiscovertheinfluentialfactorsandapropermethodforsuccessfulbusinesscommunicationistheultimategoalandcherishofthethesis.
