my thesis’s title isfeminist rebellion in the film chocolate.this film is directed by lasse hallstrm and its main characters are juliettebinoche and johnny depp. the story in the film mainly talks about love and isset to happen in winter. the heroine acted by juliette binoche is named viannewho comes to an equable and closed town in france with her daughter and intendsto plant here. she is very competent at making chocolate which has uniqueflavor and attracts many people. she is enthusiastic and often helps people whoare in need and she also gives them thoughtful heartfelt advice. however, whatshe does changes some people’s attitudes toward life, which irrigates the mayorwho attempts to eject her. but later, a handsome tramp, called roux comes toher life, acting as her protector and leading her and people in the town whoare eager for a new life to challenge the traditional forces. after released,the film is accepted with great favor in many parts of the world. what’s more,it has been regarded as the best film and received oscar award.

abroad, the researchinto the film chocolate is quitelimited. searching on yahoo, google, and ebsco, we could find a few articles orbooks about it.

compared with theresearch abroad, the study in china is more. several papers related to the filmcan be found in cnki, however, the number of these papers is also far fromenough. different angles have been written, such as how metaphor is used inthis film and what the metaphor means, comparison method of narration in thisfilm, analysis about the image of wind and so on. for example, the paperanalysis of camera scene in film chocolate by li ning, explores the techniqueswhich are used to show how the plot develops with the change of thescene. wang ying, the author analyzes the difference between the scarlet letterand chocolate on obedience andstruggle from the angle of religion. vison metaphor in the film chocolate by xia liyun mainly talksabout the chocolate’s meaning which is a significant element throughout thisfilm.

Firstly, I will givea brief introduction of the main content of this film, and such as thebackground, main characters, how the whole story goes and so on. Secondly, Iwill talk about how Vianne disobeys the mayor and follows her heart to do whatshe wants and gives thoughtful heartfelt advice to people who are in need.Through her words and behaviors, I will analyze her personalities. Third, it isabout how she pursues her love bravely and breaks the traditions and freespeople from inveterate ideas.

Feminist rebellionis familiar to most people, however, if intending to study on it and writesomething profound, I must read more relevant papers and books to get moreknowledge of this aspect. CNKI and school library are good choices for us tosearch for information. What’s more, I plan to watch this film again and againto make me more impressed and pay more attention to the details. Each time Iwill find something new and have some new thoughts. Finally, a significantthing is that I should clearly know how to utilize the formation in my thesiscorrectly.
