Under such trend, the importance of the comparative analysis of pragmatic functions between English and Chinese euphemism reveals itself.

to sum up, although there are many dimensions in the research of euphemism contributed by both chinese and overseas scholars in recent years, the comparative analysis of pragmatic functions between english and chinese is still few. in consideration of the tendency of the worldwide cultural communication, we should pay more attention to the promotion of the right usage of euphemism. that is my initial attempt to make a research on this topic.
