Considering itspositive and far-reaching influence, I want to discuss and summarize somepractical translation techniques and strategies on the basis of his theory soas to study the translation of political essays. This is why I want to study onthe translation of 2016 Chinese Government Work Report from the perspective ofNida''''s functional equivalence theory.

Functionalequivalence was presented by Eugene A. Nida in 1980s, emphasizing theequivalence of style, grammar and language units between the source languageand the target language. Its core is to pursue the functional equivalencebetween two languages. Till now, this theory has produced profound effects oninternational translational circle, and translation experts around the worldhas conducted more systematic research and analysis on it. After the reform andopening up, this theory also becomes popular among domestic translators.However, most of their researches are on literary translation while very few onpolitical essays, especially on Government Work Report. Besides, theseresearches are mainly on translation methods of one specific work report andsome specific words or sentences, neglecting translation strategies from theperspective of Government Work Reports#8217; styles and language features.

preparation:

i will write this paper with the following steps. firstly, in order to do better research on the translation of 2022 chinese governmentwork report, i willtry to search a great deal of relevant electronic resource，master papers and journals about the subject and translation of political essays from the internet. secondly, since the paper will be done from the perspective of nida''s functional equivalence, i will make a thorough study of nida''s theory related to the subject. thirdly, i will integrate collected information into the english edition of government work report. i will take previous studies and researches, and try to put forward some new ideas so as to draw a conclusion i seek.
